ok, let's be positive.

Recent interview quote from JK Rowling re: 7th and final Harry Potter book.

"The final chapter is hidden away, although it's now changed very slightly. One character got a reprieve. But I have to say two die that I didn't intend to die," she said. "A price has to be paid. We are dealing with pure evil here. They don't target extras do they? They go for the main characters. Well, I do."

Zoinks!

Interpretations, anyone, anyone?

OMG, if it's Harry...or Ron...or Hermione, Ginny, Hagrid, Mr. or Mrs. Weasley--hell, any of the Weasleys for that matter. Or Lupin. Or Tonks! Not Tonks! Or... Gah!!

my 'i hope you die' wishlist: ron, mr. weasly, percy, tonks definitely, that umbrage chick from book 5, and ginny.

umbrage, yes. maybe percy, too. all the others, sheesh! i cried my eyeballs out at the mere notion of mr. weasley dying in book 5, when he got bit by the snake.

This article put ona work stoppage for me yesterday. What's that you say? Someone was SNATCHED from the very jaws of death in exchange for TWO UNFORSEEN deaths. I cannot bear to think of Harry, Ron or Hermione dying. Ugh. I can't STAND IT! But I do fear for the very large Weasley famil - Bill's partial werewolf status does not count as a casualty. And Neville Longbottom. I worry about dear Neville. I don't KNOW. I can't stand it. This is just a cruel tease.

You know neville won't die. Even though all the characters really will deserve it- She unfortunately has to spare some for the sake of the story.

Horace! RUDE.

Neville! Now I'm worried about Neville!! I love Neville Longbottom. And Luna Lovegood. And Professors McGonagall, Sprout, and Flitwick!

I STILL say Harry can't die because he's "the boy who lived." But...it still could be. Sigh. And Ron and Hermione, ugh. I cannot even go there. It's too upsetting. I wish that article at least hinted to when the book was coming out.

That's it. This book has to come out RIGHT NOW.

And frankly, I'm with Mendacious -- Umbrage really needs to bite it. I had that weird "hem, hem" thing of hers in my head for weeks. Annoying!

Yes, Pen, good point. The last chapter can't very well be "The Boy Who Died" right? Unofficial word has it that the book is being released in July of next year. Which would be a double-whammy because OOTP movie is due to be released next July. It'll be Pottermania and then Post-Potter depression for us all (unless we take our vitamins). ;)

Snape's going to die, you know he is. He's kind of screwed himself-- either he'll die at the hands of Harry Potter because he betrayed the Order, or he'll die at the hands of Voldemort because he betrayed the Death Eaters. Which makes me so sad, because I have an actual, legitimate crush on Snape. I go for the tortured dudes.

Hem! Hem!

snape doesn't die. stop being irrational. ambiguity has to live on forever. unless harry kills him and lives as a tortured soul forever. let's hope not. bcs if i had to chose- alan rickman, ahem, i mean snape would live forever where as harry...

These are the concerns of pre-pubescent boys and girls hanging from monkey bars and jumping about in the sand. Not grown adults. Your actions are a disgrace and sicken me. Try and accomplish something with your lives you unproductive bastards.

blow me

Cue said...

I'm not sure there's room for "blow me" in a clean, heartfelt discussion about Harry Potter. Just a thought.

mendacious said...

hmm, maybe there is. maybe there is.

okay wait. you're right. let's not corrupt the kids earlier than we ought. what the anonymous wanker means to say is "blow me the biggest blue balloon mr. balloon man. far and wee says the balloon man, far and wee."

I'm guessing at least one death will be that of a Weasley, either Ron or Ginny. Harry's not going to die because J.K. doesn't want to kill the Golden Goose, should she ever decide to pull out her wand and whip up a new, adult Potter book. And having Ron or Ginny die would certainly lend itself well to a book in say five or ten years, when Harry has turned incredibly dark by all the things he has had to live through, including the deaths of his best friend or potential love interest.

As for the second, I think Kim might be on to something with Snape. He is clearly in a bad postion right now.

I would like to say I am the first anonymous but not the subsequents anonymouses. Anonymi? I expect those were posted by Deatheaters. Or Inferi.

From Pen and M: right on matt tullis. so so true. And you're so right Ashley. Deatheaters surely. People who have no souls, no humor.

Snape kind of resembles a weird stretched-out Brad Land.
