Ju-Ju

Did you ever get the feeling that everything and everyone else is moving but you and that somehow time has stopped or maybe it's you that's moving very quickly and everyone else very slowly- but perhaps then you'd be accelerating too fast and you missed everything and everyone in your own life. but no, i think it's i who is moving too slowly and everyone else whose lives are moving very quickly. and i feel that i'm on the perpetual tarmac of waiting. and waiting. and waiting somemore. catching various announcements on the PA. spending a lot of my time in the bar, tempted to take up smoking or a drinking problem. but really reading, then not reading, talking endlessly about nothing and really not proceeding anywhere of note.

totally get it. case in point, chorus from a song i wrote in college:

these days i can't seem to stay in the same place
but i'm always standing still
and since the world keeps on spinning
maybe you'll come back around with it
but i just don't think that you will
and life sits unfulfilled in a waiting room
waiting for me waiting for you

not the best lines ever, but you get the idea. and the "you" is a person AND just the things that i wanted, or thought i wanted...

whatever. it all still applies in some form or fashion. : )

BTW, the beginning of the song has some of my favorite lines i've ever written:

sometimes i feel like i'm digging my own grave with a pale and a spade
wearing a "little mary sunshine" dress."

yeah.

(um, all lyrics copyright 2002 Sarah R. Parker : )

I agree with kurt, I was just "somewhere." In fact, it seemed like I was just everywhere, but thats only momentarily. You come back and you're still at the same place, with everyone moving about you. But hey, at least you're moving right? It doesn't matter how slowly, at least you're moving and feeling and writing, and that's alot more that not moving at all, no?

BTW: what are your thoughts on cat adoption?

i approve of cat adoption. absolutely no declawing however and know what you're getting into and how much attention indoor cats actually need- bcs it is A LOT. Bcs cats are natural outdoor hunter types- and being an indoor couch potato is where it's heading unless you give them lots of attention and stimulation.

and sarah- love, the pale and spade line. it rocks fairly well.
