peace

there was a lot of profound thought there. it lasted about 6 minutes. (I can't be bothered to write it down, but it's intimidating.)

To follow will be picture highlights of my last 2004 adventures... I can't say I'll have any more, for various reasons- like debt, rain, and apathy, so you might as well enjoy these.

  1. My, yes. I know the feeling. I was walking in the rain, just this morning. The drum, drum, drum, thwap, thwap, thwap woke me, just outside my window. I opened my eyes, my body still mastered by gravity- my hand broke free of the covers. I blinked. I sighed. Still raining.

I grimaced and stumbled into my warmest clothing and felt horribly ordinary. I wouldn't be wading through waist high water, a tenuous grip and a lull in the surge of water, before i reached the other side. I wouldn't be walking miles on a quest, my breath held out in gasps, for warmth, for a place to rest. I wouldn't have an important conversation with anyone besides the movies I'd watch (3). They were profound, or rather they gave issue to a voiceless whisper of a quiet mind.
To say it would sound foolish.

Later I pulled up the KFC drive thru window and let my hand catch the water drops from the awning. Steam rose from my hand. Am I that warm? I let it continue for a moment, quickly withdrawing my hand and wiping the cold water away. The warmth was something to protect, and there's nothing so deadly as the chill of indifference.
